Distribution Boards (DBs) serve as the central nervous system of a building’s electrical infrastructure, receiving the main power feed and safely dividing it into multiple subsidiary circuits for different areas and functions. Within a larger system, you’ll find specialized boards: Power Distribution Boards (PDBs) are typically designed for heavy-duty, high-current loads like motors, machinery, and major appliances, often requiring larger-capacity protective devices and wiring. Conversely, Lighting Distribution Boards (LDBs) are tailored for lighter, lower-power circuits dedicated specifically to lighting fixtures and sometimes general-purpose convenience outlets. By separating and managing power and lighting loads, DBs ensure organized distribution, load balancing, and targeted protection, all of which are vital for a safe, efficient, and reliable electrical supply.
